About Maia
Maia Suez is a multimedia artist from Austin, Texas who earned her degree in Art at St. Edward’s University.
Maia uses her work to explore her relationship to the world around her with humor and sensitivity, often using imagery drawn directly from her own memories and life experience. Taking advantage of a variety of techniques and experimenting with a range of materials, she investigates the absurdities of growing up and finding community in the age of smartphones and social media, as well as what it means to suddenly find oneself in a post covid society.
Maia has had her work exhibited in the 2020 Juried Student Exhibition at St. Edward’s University, the 2021 Texas Association of Schools of Art (TASA) Artovation Exhibition, and the 2022 Senior Art Exhibition at St. Edward's University.
Rather than heading straight to university after high school, Maia took a gap year to live and study abroad in Israel. After coming back to the U.S. to pursue a degree in fashion design, she was inspired by the freedom in media and content that she had access to in the art classes she was taking. The following year, Maia changed her major to Art and hasn’t looked back since!
